For decades, women and families have been receiving hope and healing from the Saint Paul VI Institute’s signature developments, the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and NaProTECHNOLOGY.  These systems are for everyone of reproductive age, and the impact they have transcends generations! We frequently see a lineage of daughters, sisters, mothers, and sometimes even grandmothers who have all received the compassionate and effective pro-life women’s healthcare we deliver. Many become inspired to enter into Creighton Model and NaProTECHNOLOGY professions to provide to others the same care they have received.

Christina Timp came to the Saint Paul VI Institute as a young girl with her mother and sister while they were being treated Dr. Thomas Hilgers.

She was 11 years old when her family experienced the devastating loss of miscarriage. She and her father were present with her mother when the ultrasound revealed there was no heartbeat and the baby had passed. Her mother’s doctor at that time had the attitude that it was a “good thing” her mother lost the baby, because she was too old. This lack of compassion only compounded the family’s grief!

There is a predisposition to women’s health disorders in Christina’s family. Her sister had been placed on the oral contraceptive pill, Yaz, for polycystic ovaries as a teen. She experienced terrible mood swings, anger, and weight gain while taking the pill. When she reported the troubling side-effects to the doctor who prescribed the pill, his response to her was, “Run a marathon.” Displeased with this doctor’s insensitivity, she began researching alternative treatments for polycystic ovaries and found Dr. Hilgers. Both Christina’s sister and mom immediately began learning the Creighton Model long-distance before deciding to come to Omaha for treatment.

Christina and her family traveled five hours to come to the Institute. “I remember going to the clinic and seeing the baby wall pictures…That left a big impression on me; especially with the contrast of the doctor’s attitude with my mom’s miscarriage of ‘no baby is good’ verses Dr. Hilgers’ attitude that ‘babies are good no matter who you are,’” Christina recalls.

Through NaProTECHNOLOGY progesterone therapy, Christina’s mom and sister were restored to natural health. At age 20, Christina herself started Creighton Model charting in order to “master” her fertility before entering a phase of life when starting a family would become a possibility. Although her periods were regular, she experienced severe menstrual cramping that pain relievers could scarcely relieve. A doctor in the past attributed her severe cramping to sodium intake, but when she started Creighton Model charting it hinted at endometriosis. Her Practitioner referred her for a surgical NaProTECHNOLOGY consultation and since her surgery, she has felt better than ever!

The help Christina and her family received from NaProTECHNOLOGY inspired her to become a FertilityCare Practitioner. Christina wants to help others as she and her family have been helped stating, “I have friends with severe cramps which is a sign of abnormality… women are not taught that things like PMS and severe cramps are abnormalities. So, any time friends, an acquaintance, or a customer at work starts talking about any kind of abnormality with their cycles, I will immediately tell them about NaProTECHNOLOGY.”
